Tussey Mountain

Every day in the Tussey Mountain after school program, students in grades K-5 have a chance to explore their interests, learn new skills, have fun with friends, and receive help with academics. “Kids get to have fun, get help with homework and spend time with friends. Our Program is very popular,” says co-coordinator, Brad Morse. “We usually have a long wait list. So, if you’re interested, please get your enrollment form in at the beginning of each school year.”
The program day is packed – filled with an after school meal, tutoring and exploring activities, including technology like stop-motion animation, digital 3D design, robotics and much more.
Brad, who teaches fourth grade, has been at Tussey Mountain for the past 14 years – this is his fourth year as the program site coordinator. Brad and his wife, Dorian (also a Tussey Mountain teacher) have three children ages 6-11.
Brad is joined in the coordinator position by co-coordinator, Valerie Mornginstar, a former Tussey elementary site coordinator and current teacher at the high school who handles the reporting side of the position.
Brad and Valerie have a number of elementary staff who help tutor in the program, including lead tutors Jamie Villa and Christine Leonard, both primary grade teachers in the district; and tutors/district teachers Lois Bussick, Jessica Little, Eva Sichko and Julie Gutshall. Instructional assistants are Tonya Henry and Kathy Angelo.
