After School and the 5 W's

Who:Students in Grades 2-5 who want to: Improve their grades and PSSA Scores,  make the honor roll, get homework done, and have access to tutors and aides for extra help - all of this while making new friends, learning new skills and having fun!

What:The Everett After School Program offers students a chance to improve their grades and raise their test scores.  We have expert tutors and aides to help them complete homework and learn new and exciting things.

We go on 3-4 field trips a year.  Last fall students visited the Bedford Borough Historic District and Fort Bedford Museum as well as the Flight 93 Memorial. Past trips have included Lincoln Caverns, Camp Allegheny, skating and bowling, Ritchey's Dairy and other fun, and educational visits. We also have 4 Open Houses a year. Parents and families are invited to come to learn more about the program and gain knowledge that will help them support healthy family development.  Some past activities have : "Lights On for After School" where we made glass Jack-o-lanterns,  "Christmas Crafts and Holiday nutrition, Easter Minute-to-Win-It games, and an End of the Year Celebration where we set off our bottle rockets.

When: After School meets Monday through Thursday from 3-6 pm.  Students arrive at 3 and we have a snack and social time from 3-3:30.  From 3:30-4:30 we divide into groups for homework and tutoring.  After the tutoring hour we have academic enrichment and recreational time.  At 6 we board transportation for home.

Where: After School meets in the Library at Everett Elementary.  Students from Breezewood are bussed into Everett so they can participate in the After School program.

Why: After School gives students time to complete their homework with excellent tutors and aides available to help.  It is a great opportunity for students to learn new and exciting skills doing fun, team building activities.  Last year we had 68 students in the After School Program with an average daily attendance of 50 students.  We had lots of students on the Honor Roll , many for the first time.  We pass out BUG Awards (Bringing Up Grades) after every marking period and have lots of smiles!

And all of this is FREE!!!
