Everett

Interested in making new friends?  Need a place to go for fun and games after school?  Could you use some help with your homework?  Would you like to make a "Hex Bug Robot" or be involved in criminal investigations?  All of this and more happens at the Everett After School Program.

Everett Area School District covers 300 square miles of beautiful rural countryside located in southeastern Bedford County, PA.  After School is located in the Everett Elementary School Library.  If you attend Breezewood or Mann Monroe Elementary, transportation is provided into Everett Elementary.  Site Coordinator for the After School Program is Barbara Barron and is overseen by Principal, Mr. Justin Hilligas and Everett Elementary Head Teacher, Miss Becky Pupo.

After School runs from 3:00 to 6:00 pm Monday through Thursday.  As students arrive we have a snack and social time from 3:00-3:30.  At 3:30 students are divided into groups to work with a tutor and aide to complete any homework that they have.  This session lasts till 4:30 and all students must be doing some form of academic work.  If they do not have any homework that day, they can play math and reading games, read stories, practice spelling, math facts, and many other activities.

The time from 4:30-6:00 is divided into two 40 minute sessions.  One session is enrichment where students are involved in many activities with us or CBO's (Community Based Organizations) from 4-H, PSI, Arts Council, and others.  Some activities that we did last year included CSI activities like fingerprinting, matching hair samples, and making plaster foot impressions.  We also cooked and made bottle rockets.  We built robots and ball and track roller coasters.  The second session is recreation.  We learned to play Silent Ball, Glob Tag, and Tail Tag.  We also played touch football, dodge ball, and kickball to name a few.  Sometimes we have free play where you and your friends can decide what to play.

The After School Program is available to all students in grades 3-5 in the Everett Area School District.  The program is free and transportation is provided to the child's regular bus stop.
